Guilty pleasure... BLOOD DRIVE

Talk about guilty pleasures? I have found mine and it's SYFY'S Blood Drive on Wednesday nights. I don't know what anyone was thinking when making this show but it's got the perfect amount of everything if you like weird and goofy. Grindhouse productions has won me over, not an easily accomplished feat, as I am not much of a TV viewer.  I'll be tuning in every week to watch Arthur and Grace get into as much gruesome trouble as they try to win the Blood Drive!

May 2017

So it's May 2017 and the highlight of the month has been exhibiting at the Port Jefferson Local Author Fair. I got to meet a few new authors and spent some time with Debbie De Louise, cozy mystery author who also attended. I'd like to thank friends Katie and Raz for dropping by and showing their support! The rain was horrendous that day (May 13th) on Long Island otherwise I think it would've had a better turnout, although it really wasn't bad. I had a lot of fun! Anyone interested in pics they can scan through my Media on Twitter (@LisaDMeyer) , Instagram or my FB pages.
With the exception of the New Mystery Science Theater 3000 on Netflix, I am underwhelmed at anything I've seen off of television. I feel gypped by the shows I do watch  BUT Game of Thrones is coming back soon!
Next up... I'll be writing about Book Expo and Book Con June 1 - 4 as I will be exhibiting there. Free books as long as supplies last over at my booth!

New News All Roads Collection

I have some news on the book front. My third book, All Roads Shattered has been published and is available on Amazon and Outskirtspress.com and more. I hope everyone who reads it, enjoys it and gives it reviews on Amazon, Outskirts or Goodreads, etc.
While that's going on my second book, All Roads Destined has been nominated for a CIPA EVVY award, so if you're feeling all read-ery buy and read that one, too. Of course, there's always  All Roads Home. It holds a special place in my heart, it being my first "child".
Next on the list, I am thrilled to be a featured author at the 3rd Annual Friends of the Port Jefferson Free Library Local Author Fair. I'll be selling all three books there, signed, so if you happen to be a local Long Islander come and meet me and 30 other LI writers!
Lastly, I will also be showing at BEA (Book Expo America) and Book Con 2017 this June 1- 4 at the Jacob Javits Center in NYC, Booth 1761 in The Blend Section.
Thank you and I'll certainly let you all know how they go!

Between A Rock And A Hard Place by Debbie Delouise

I gave this book 5 stars as it's the perfect example of a cozy mystery. Just enough romance, just enough suspense which increases as it goes, and enough suspects and motives to play with as you read. If you've read the first book in the series, you are already acquainted with John and Alicia and many of the Cobble Cove characters, so you feel right at home.

Taboo

It took me some time getting here with this one. Taboo was excellent, or else I wouldn't be here typing about it. My problem was more or less how to write about this season which should've been dealt with episode by episode rather than trying to lump it all together, like I'm going to do now. Recipe for Taboo: Lump lots of Tom Hardy, a drop of duel, England, America, 3/4's voodoo, plenty of explosions, men in wigs, men in ladies wigs, a button of arsenic poisoning, a few wife-beatings, a dash of torture, lots more of Tom Hardy, "wincest" with the chick from the Red Wedding and you got one helluva period piece that you can't stop watching.
Sidenote: I wish the incest was more like a 1st or 2nd cousin thing. I think that was very IN STYLE or tolerated back then. The half brother/half sister was almost icky. Like I said Taboo was more than likable but tough as heck to review in Blah Blah Blog mode. 5/5 stars

Southpaw 2015

Of all the sports out there, boxing is my least favorite. In fact, I won't even watch it. Not because I'm a woman and find it too violent. I am a hockey fan, I'll have you know. And I am also a fan of Southpaw. How did this happen? I hate boxing! Jake G and Rachel McAdams are hot and likable as always. Throw in wonderful actor Forest Whittaker and it's a no brainer. Somehow this movie had an appeal, that kept me watching and thinking about for days after. It was kind of ROCKY and kind of not. Ok... so I will label it a "refreshing ROCKY" . Bobby Hope's fall from grace has more to it because there''s a child involved. Anyway, as you can tell, I liked it. It's not easy to keep me intrigued and Southpaw did it's job.

Vikings

Things didn't end well for a lot of characters this season, especially for our hero Ragnar. And anyone whose name starts with S-I-G never lives very long. Examples: Siggy, Baby Siggy and Sigurd Snake in the Eye. I really didn't see that one coming, although it was foreshadowed early in the season. Character with the Best Lines in a Season Finale goes to Floki. Babyface Aethelwulf couldn't catch a break with anyone. Maybe now that he's king, he will. It was good to see Rollo for just a little bit. Then there was Ivar, possibly the best creepiest good guy/bad guy actor going. I will say I like how the sons of Ragnar, sound, act, almost impersonate versions of their father so that even if they don't look exactly like him, you can tell they're related. What will next season bring us? Who will be back? Floki? Torvi? A lot of good characters died, is there time for us to really get to love anyone else except Bjorn and Lagertha, the only two (I think?) remaining first season characters? I hope so, as this is one of my favorite shows.

Sneaky Interviews Chloe

https://sneakylibrarycat.wordpress.com/2017/01/14/sneaky-interviews-chloe-author-lisa-diaz-meyers-kitten/

Author/Librarian Debbie DeLouise's Sneaky Cat's Blog is an adorable feature. In last week's blog post, she interviewed my newly rescued kitten Chloe about me and my books ALL ROADS HOME AND ALL ROADS DESTINED. There's an excerpt, some gorgeous kitten Chloe pics and some new ideas written through the eyes of the kitten, who does indeed sit under my feet as I type. I certainly hope you can copy & paste the above and give it a shot. It won't take long. Thanks, if ya' do. Support is always appreciated!

Z-Nation Review

OK, so Z-Nation, you're up at bat. My favorite character is Doc. I think almost everyone's favorite is Doc. This old hippie that knows some medicine saves the day and the show, with his corny lines and likable persona. He looks all frail but to me he is one of the strongest characters on the show. Warren is also good with her beauty and toughness. What I really like about Z-Nation is that it doesn't take itself seriously. There's humor in the post-apocalyptic zombie world. And I'm happy about that.
